Drawing inspiration from my years in immersive theater, as well as my time behind the bar, I saw the unique relationship between a bartender and his guest and strived to harness the intimacy that can often occur over a drink.

An early prototype, A Cocktail Party Game, was developed during testplays at Chelsea Music Hall in NYC under the name A Cocktail Party Social Experiment from 2019-2022. Public interest to create the game was high, and during the Covid-19 lockdown I made plans to crowdsource.

After launching a Kickstarter in 2021, Social Alchemix reached its fundraising goal in 3 days, and is currently available for purchase online, or in various retail stores across the United States.

A theatrical hybrid of game night, storytelling, and boozy voyeurism wrapped in the framework of the Scientific Method.

Question: Can we create an analog experience in which a group of strangers can get to know each other in a deeper and more meaningful way?

Hypothesis: Yes

Procedure: Armed with cocktails and the party game Social Alchemix, a group of strangers navigate a cocktail party, skip the small talk, and get into the good stuff.
